Summer Book Club

I can hardly believe it but Summer is just around the corner!!! School will be getting out soon and it will be time to start getting creative about how to keep our kids busy and learning this summer! If your customers are looking for a Summer boredom buster, a Summer Book Box can be an AMAZING cure! Book mail is something fun for their whole family to look forward to, and the excitement of a new book can last longer a little bit at a time than doing it all at once.

If you've never done a Book Box before, here are some tips:

*Post your graphic in your VIP Groups and send personal messages! Personal messages are so important to let your friends and customers know you thought of them specifically and also to prevent anyone from missing out on an awesome book deal just in case they missed your post.

*If your total order amount reaches $250, enter it in as a book fair to save yourself on shipping charges since you'll be paying for shipping over the summer.

*If you think your customers would prefer to pick out their own books instead of you choosing for them, one option can be to select books from different categories for them to choose from. You could give them options based on the ages of their readers, or just keep the categories more general. For example, you could give them the option of categories such as Wipe Clean book, Mazes book, Picture Puzzle pack, Coloring books, etc. Or even start by picking one book as a base, such as the famous All Better + a Muddle and Match book and jigsaw puzzle!

Offering your customers options can still allow them to pick and choose what they think their kids would like while still ensuring you don't break the bank with your book box options.

Good luck! I'd love to hear what fun ideas you come up with, so feel free to comment or contact me to share your awesome ideas!

Christmas Cookie Baking Competition

Wow this Christmas season has come and gone so fast! The stockings are hung, and we're all racing the clock to get our wrapping done! I wanted to share a fun activity we are doing in my VIP Group to celebrate the week before Christmas! I hope your VIP Groups enjoy this! I'm excited to see the results!

Here is the post I wrote for my VIP Group:

🎄It's the last week before Christmas!!! 🎄I've thought long and hard about what we could do to celebrate, and this is the fun I've dreamed up...a Christmas Cookie Baking Competition!!!
Here's how it may post 2 pictures of up to 2 different kinds of cookies in the Cookie album in our group Photos. They must be hand made to qualify, store bought cookies don't count! Everyone will get 2 votes, you can vote once for yourself, and once for one other cookie submission. You are welcome to invite your friends and family to the group to help vote for your cookie entry (ONLY with their permission please)! You will receive one BONUS POINT for each kiddo who helps you make them!  The last day to submit entries and vote will be Tuesday December 26, so Santa cookies will count
The incredible cookie master will receive the one and only brand new Children's Baking Kit upon its debut release! This is one of our January 2018 releases, and I'm SO excited for it to come out, so the lucky winner will be one of the first to own it!

Happy Baking! May the best Cookie win!

Telling the Time Week: Clock Chalk Activity and Back to School Treasure Hunt

Learning how to tell time is no easy feat for kids, especially on a regular clock face! The devices we most frequently use to tell times are often digital clocks, but it is still important skill to learn.

This week in Literary Ladies, we discussed some ways we can encourage our kids to practice telling time. With any tough concept, finding ways to make it FUN is a great motivator! Usborne's Wipe-Clean Telling the Time is definitely a fun way to encourage the concepts involved in telling the time, including what the little hand does, the half hour, quarter after/quarter to, and how to read time on digital clocks. I like how each concept builds on each other.

My VIP Group received special access to some fun Lunchbox Practice printables to encourage their kiddos to practice telling time on their own. These can also be used during snack time, or after school. Learning is all the time! :)

Telling the Time Lunchbox Practice!

Simply fill in the blank of the time you want your kiddos to practice (ex: going home time, bedtime, dinner time, etc.), and cut out the strip. Then tape your time strip and one of the clocks to one of the items in their lunchbox. Ta-Da! If your kids are younger than lunchbox age, or maybe don't have a small window of time to eat lunch at school, you can still do this at snack time and/or lunch time at home and assist them with drawing their clock hands!

Back to School Treasure Hunt

Members of my VIP Group also got to participate in a treasure hunt using a fun app, Xperiencetheapp! The app allows you to place pins anywhere on an interactive map for your treasure hunters to go find to collect a prize! I have included the script I used for my VIP Group members! As always, you're welcome to copy and paste this script, just be sure to tweak it and add some YOU into it so it's not a cookie cutter copy!

Announcement Post:

Happy Monday ladies!!! It's time for Telling Time week!
This week we are going to be doing a telling time activity and see our Book of the Week 'Wipe-Clean Telling Time' in action, PLUS we will be doing another Treasure Hunt on Saturday September 23rd ! The winners will be getting a FREE Wipe Clean book, so if you'd like to participate please comment below with your city and state so I know where I'll need to set up the pins!

Reminder Post:

2) Download the app
iTunes Store:
Google Play Store:
3) Sign up for a personal or business account
4) Tomorrow morning at 10 am, log in to the app and swipe to the screen to the right to find Orange pins on the map with the title 'Back to School Treasure Hunt'
5) Be one of the first ones to collect the pin on our interactive map in your area to win a special prize!!! You must be within 50 feet of the pin to unlock the prize!

Treasure Hunt Set Up *Consultant Use Only - not part of script*

1) Download Xperiencetheapp.
iTunes Store:
Google Play Store:
2) Sign up for a Business Account.

On the morning of the Treasure Hunt you'll need set up your pins:
3) Swipe screen to the left, and click on the Business Pro button.
4) Purchase a 1-Day use for $9.99. There are other options available if you wanted to use them for 1 week and 1 month. I did it just for a Saturday during the day.
5) You'll get 4 pins to place anywhere on the app map, and you'll select how many prizes are available for each location (I did 3 in each location). Place your pins in the locations requested by your customers or where you think people will want to play. I like to place at least 1 pin local to me to encourage my neighbors and local customers to participate.

You will have the option to make this a public or private event. If you choose to make this private so only members in your VIP Group will be able to see and collect your pins, you will need to create a public event somewhere they can all see it, then ask them to join the event, click on your profile picture, and send you a friend request.

While this is still a new thing for my VIP Group, I made my event public and then after the event was over, I have all new users add me as a friend by clicking on my profile and sending me a friend request. When I have a larger group of VIP Members as friends on the app, then I'll be able to keep this private so that only my VIP Group members will be able to see it and collect it. You can definitely have everyone add you as a friend first though!

Treasure Hunt Day:

Once I had my pins set up, I posted this in my VIP Group:

Pins are up in Xperiencetheapp! Let the Back to School Treasure Hunt begin!
*City 1
*City 2
*City 3
*City 4
The first 3 people in each area to find and unlock your pin will get a FREE Wipe Clean book! Grab a friend and let the games begin! Have fun!!!

Your customers will be able to see this screen when they have successfully unlocked your promotion, and you will also receive an app notification for verification.

I had some AWESOME feedback from my customers about this activity, they loved getting their kids involved and told me how excited their kids were to go find a prize! I love how interactive this app is, it really gives us the ability to provide some fun experiences that let our customers get excited about our books as a family! I'm planning on doing a treasure hunt at least once a month!

Remember, since this is a special offer, we can put up a post on our FB Timelines or Business Pages saying that you're doing a Treasure Hunt in your VIP Group and the winners will get a special prize. Then add your interested friends and family to your VIP Group to get the details of the prizes.

Clock Chalk Activity

This activity was WOWingly simply, but so much fun! Our girls had a BLAST getting to see how a clock works in action by getting to BE the clock in action!

Sidewalk Chalk (I found mine at Walmart)

Step 1:
Draw a clock on the sidewalk. Point your clock hands to different numbers around the clock.

Step 2:
Have your kids stand around the different numbers and discuss how the time changes as they move around the clock.

UBAM Gratitude Journal

'Tis the Season to be Thankful!

I'm thankful to be part of such a wonderful company and to be able to fill my girls' bookshelf with so many good reads! I love watching them learn!

Just like any job, what we do has its ups and downs. I used to think it just wasn't for me, it was all based on lucky people with supportive friends, etc. What I didn't realize then was that I was being inconsistent and my attitude spread to my business. It kept me from being creative during slow times, and most importantly it kept me from personal growth. When I made the decision to promote to UBAM leadership, I learned that when what I was willing to do to make my business a fun one went up, so did my business! When I was willing to learn new things from my upline, my business went up! When I regularly attended trainings and asked my Team Leader for help, my business went up! Attitude is contagious, and it affects everything we do, so let's make it a FABULOUS one!

I created this UBAM Gratitude Journal to help find the good in each and every UBAM-related thing we do! My challenge for my team was to write down something good in every party and event they did, even for the party flops! We can make every experience a positive one, and I wanted to have them put their positive thoughts into action!

The UBAM Consultant's Gratitude Journal comes with a small page for each month of the year for you and your team to record their thoughts and impressions for each event or task they hold or complete in that month.

You can download the full printable version here:

Best Ever Chicken Chimi's

Whether it's party night or not, what to make for dinner is still one of the largest conundrums of our busy days. The Gold in me prefers meal plans, grocery lists, dinners timed to avoid hangry tears, and a meal in which everyone is so excited to eat that they get to eat dessert afterwards. The Momma in me says "Really? I have to make another mess that I'm going to have to clean up later?"

The struggle is real. Especially on nights I have parties going on.

Why should our hips have to suffer through one more $5 pizza just because it's party night? Trust me, this happens all too frequently at our house. It's an easy fix, but when the top button on my jeans becomes a little too snug, I know it's time to take a stand for healthier eating before I end up having to make a rather depressing shopping trip. Shopping is my favorite hobby, it's what gets me through the tough times, but I draw the line at anything that takes the fun out of it. Having to buy the next size up in jeans?? Yeah...Not. Cool.

How do we conquer this vicious cycle? By remembering the Boy Scout motto...Be Prepared! Let's get organized and think of some ways to plan ahead so when party night rolls around, we got that healthy dinner covered!

Now I'm from Arizona, which means I've had my fair share of amazing Mexican food. I have yet to find a restaurant that measures up to my unusually high standards of what good Mexican food should taste like. So I must make my own. I've tried dozens of chimi, enchilada, taco, tostada, etc. recipes but I haven't been able to find one I liked enough to make twice.

Until now.

What I'm about to share with you is my secret to happy taste buds. It's amazing fresh out of the oven and as a leftover. You can even freeze it for a quick and handy freezer meal. You can dress them up with cheese and turn them into an enchilada, or leave them alone for an amazing crunch. Either way, this sauce is fabulous and my favorite dinner ever. Ok, enough drooling! Let's dive in so we can stuff our faces!

Baked Chicken Chimi's w/ Avocado & Cilantro Cream Sauce

8-10 tortillas
4 cups shredded chicken (I HIGHLY recommend grilled!)
2-3 cups Monterrey Jack cheese, shredded

Avocado Cream Sauce

2 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp flour
2 cups chicken broth
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
2-3 California avocados, peeled and pitted
1 cup cilantro
Juice of 1-2 limes

Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350.

Step 2:
Now, make the avocado cream sauce:
Melt 2 Tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 Tbsp flour until golden and bubbly, usually about 2-3 minutes. Slowly stir in 1 can (2 cups) of chicken broth. It will be tempting to pour the whole can in all at once. Pouring it all in at once makes it too watery and it takes forever to thicken up, so it’s worth the effort. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Step 3:
Stir in the sour cream, cumin, salt, garlic powder, and pepper, whisking if necessary to remove any lumps.

Step 4:
Remove from heat and transfer mixture to a blender or food processor. Add avocados, cilantro, and lime juice. Pulse mixture until it is smooth and well-blended. Be very careful blending hot liquids – the heat expands! Remove the lid occasionally so that the heat can escape.

Step 5:
Time to assemble the tortillas! My oldest daughter calls it “decorating” the tortillas! Lay the tortilla flat. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the Avocado Cream Sauce in the middle of the tortilla. Put 2-3 tablespoons of shredded chicken and 1-2 tablespoons Monterrey Jack cheese in the middle of the tortilla.

Step 6:
Wrap the tortilla burrito style and place it on an ungreased pan. Repeat for remaining tortillas. Depending on the amount of chicken you use, you can usually get 8-10 chimis. For anyone wishing to transition these chimis into enchiladas can easily do so simply by spreading the Avocado Cream Sauce over the top of the enchiladas before baking. It is delicious either way, but we love to have these as leftovers the next day so we prefer chimi-style so the tortillas don’t get soggy the next day.

Step 7:
Drizzle remaining sauce over the chimis and add your favorite toppings, such as sour cream and salsa. Serve and enjoy!

  • Make the chicken the day before to cut down on prep time. This is a great solution when you know you’re going to have a busy week!
  • Melt butter over the tortillas before baking to give them an added kick of flavor.
  • These are amazing for leftovers! Just stick them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes to keep the texture of the tortilla nice and crisp!
  • Don't be shy with toppings! My favorite is homemade pico de gallo and an extra squeeze of lime!
Enjoy! These are a simple recipe that can be added upon in a heartbeat, so feel free to experiment! Eat a bite for me! 😉

SPOOKtacular 'Go for No' Team Challenge

Summer days are winding down, and the Fall selling season is on its way! The Fall season has such an incredible energy. Not only is there the smell of pumpkin spice and leaves in the air, but there's also a sense of excitement. Like Fall itself, this season can be rejuvenating and can give life to our businesses no matter what phase of our business we are in. As a team leader, we all want our teams to feel this energy and let it flow through their business in the hopes it will grow into everything our team members dreamed it would be.
The best way to have a successful Fall is to fill our calendars! A great place to start is to Fall is to begin with a Booking Blitz. For a consultant, taking that first step to success can be the hardest thing we have to do when we're looking to refuel our business. One of the obstacles we have to overcome is the fear of hearing the word 'No'. It can be incredibly disheartening and it may even make us shy away from wanting to share our opportunities with others. All of us struggle with this to some degree, even many of the most successful people in our business! We know it's hard, so it's our job as team leaders to help our team overcome the fear of 'No' to help them reach their goals. We all have high hopes for our team, and it's our job to encourage them to go for it! This business is what we make it, so let's make it the very best!
